With heavy hearts, staff from Local 440 (St.Lawrence Valley Correctional & Treatment Centre/Brockville Jail) announce the sudden passing of C.O. Howie Greer. Howie began his career in Corrections at the Perth Jail. From there he transferred to OCDC. Upon the expansion of the Rideau Correctional & Treatment Centre, Howie transferred to Rideau, then moved on to the Brockville Jail after Rideau's closure. Howie then transferred over to the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre in Brockville. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Angie and their two daughters, Ciara and Shannon.

"Entered into rest at his residence on Saturday March 27, 2010. Howard Kenneth Greer of Brockville age 51 years. Beloved husband of Angela (Curran) Greer, loving father of Ciara and Shannon. Dear son of Kenneth and Muriel (Warrington) Greer, brother of Jeffrey Greer and Patti Greer (Christopher Strong). Survived by his mother-in-law Pauline Curran, his sister-in-law Cindy Cummings (Ernie), his brother-in-law Raymond Curran and nieces Sydney and Megan Greer, Lilli Strong, Julie and Lisa Cummings, Rebecca Curran and his nephews Davidson Strong and Jake Curran. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends Ken and Heather Adams, Don and Helen Desjardine, all of his Rock Lake hunting buddies, his Govan Lake fishing buddies and all of his co-workers and friends. Howie will be missed by his loving dogs Lady and Boots. Predeceased by his father-in-law Raymond Curran.

Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7- 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday March 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. In memoriams to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family."
