Management is committed to an 8 hour schedule as of June 29th, 2009 at both SLVCTC and Brockville Jail.
They and management at other institutions are going ahead with 8 hour scheduling.
Below is the response to our withdrawal from our local compressed work week agreement.
"April 2, 2009
Dear Gary,
This will acknowledge receipt of your notice to withdraw from the local Compressed Work Week Agreement, which was implemented on October 2, 2006.
I suggest that the appropriate procedure would be to sit down and discuss this issue with you on May 14th, 2009 at our Employee Relations Committee meeting or arrange a meeting date sooner if you would prefer.
Under our Compressed Work Week Agreement, there is a 90-day notice period. Since
you have given notice to terminate the Agreement, the compressed work week arrangements for correctional officers will end effective June 28, 2009.
Therefore, in accordance with the Collective Agreement, article COR2.2, the normal hours of work for correctional officers will be 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
The effective date for this new schedule will be Monday June 29th, 2009.
Management will be working on a new schedule that reflects the 8 hours shifts. I am hoping to have a draft of this schedule by May 17th, 2009 and would be happy to review it with you shortly thereafter. As always, your comments would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jim Empey, Superintendent"
All members will be contacted by stewards informing them of the 8 hour shifts. We all need to know.
Read the blogs and keep informed, this is province wide.
