McGuinty Mania/Watson's Wuss-out

Part 1: Premier passes on constituents

Friday February 27th,1030hours1795 Kilborn avenue: members arrived at the new OPSEU office immediately beside Dalton's constituency office(also the family law firm,oh my).

Jump to 11:30hours: despite it being constituency day, no sign of Dalton as our numbers grow with the addition of COs, P&P,Auditors,Clerks, OPSEU executive board members, mobilisers, and more.

Despite a wet and miserable noon hour about 80 members showed up to demonstrate peacefully and air their concerns.
As signs and jackets slowly wilted members were upbeat and cheerful.
The police were both present and professional and the uniforms seemed to enjoy the demonstration.
After an hour or so, a welcome reinforcement in the shape of pizza arrived which went pretty fast as it was hot and demonstrators were not.
Finally around 1300 hrs or so it wrapped up and a sigh of relief could be heard coming out of Dalton's office from his staff.
Apparently Dalton had no constituent concerns that day as he was nowhere to be found.

Great turnout especially considering the weather, well organized, a range of members from all sorts of workplaces and experience.
Our message was put out there and there were a lot of people honking and waving to show their
support.
P.S. We will be back Dalton, will you?

Part 2: The case of the canceled meeting.

1400hrs 2249 Carling Avenue unit 201: This one is much smaller with most local members unable to attend due to time.
A small group materialized outside, cased the joint, and found Mr Jim Watson's office.
After working out protocol with the present and professional police and requesting a meeting with Mr. Watson, he agreed to meet with a P&P Officer, a CO, and an OPSEU rep.
Somewhat mysteriously he then changed his mind and would only consent to accepting some literature.

No problem, Jim, expect not only future visitors but many more of them.

To all who were able to attend , thanks.
Please stay tuned as there will be more information to come and we will need your support to send a message to our employer.
